PURPOSE OF JOB
Theragenics Costa Rica Ltd is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our Costa Rica team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the daily accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and suppliers, and supporting financial operations. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of local accounting regulations in Costa Rica.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Invoice Processing:
Review and verify invoices for accuracy and completeness.
Match invoices to purchase orders and ensure correct coding of expenses.
Enter invoices into the accounting system in a timely manner.
  • Payments:
Prepare and process payments (e.g., wire transfers, checks) to suppliers and service providers according to established terms (e.g., Net 45/Net 60).
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Expense Management:
Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring they are accurately recorded and aligned with budget allocations.
Assist with month-end close by providing necessary reports and reconciliation.
  • Vendor Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding payment inquiries.
Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient payment processes.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure adherence to Costa Rican tax and regulatory requirements for payments.
Generate AP reports and assist with audits and reviews as needed.
  • Process Improvement:
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the AP function.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in an accounts payable or related finance role, preferably in a multinational or medical device company (required)
  • Professional fluency in English is essential (C1), both written and oral (required)
  • Strong MS Excel skills (required)
  • Understanding of Costa Rican tax regulations, including VAT, withholding taxes and Free zone regulations (required)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience with Sage X3 is a plus.
